The System Engineer is responsible for growth and integrity of our internal systems as well as working as consultants for our Managed Services clients.
This is an in office position with a typical schedule of Monday Friday am to pm.
You will be required to be in the oncall rotation typically week a month.
Assist in the build out maintenance and troubleshooting of our rapidly expanding infrastructure.
Be part of a talented team of engineers and administrators that demonstrate superb technical competency delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability performance and security.
We are expecting a minimum oneyear commitment based on the level of investment made in this position.
Assist clients with maintenance configuration and reliable operation of computer systems network servers and virtualization Install and upgrade computer components and software manage virtual servers and integrate automation processes Help troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics documenting problems and resolutions prioritizing problems and assessing impact of issues Follow documentation and technical specifications to plan and implement new installations or upgrades to IT infrastructure Perform regular backup operations and follow processes for data protection disaster recovery and failover Perform patching and updates necessary to maintain a secure environment Work with other team members in managed services to ensure event logs are constantly monitored and any relevant actionable items are addressed Maintain systems in accordance with PCI HIPAA and all other applicable regulations as per Fibernet.
Maintain vendor relationships for all related solutions Assist with planning for capacity storage and database performance Focus on the performance integrity and security of the database Ensure database data remains consistent is clearly defined users can access it in a form that suits their needs and can be retrieved in an emergency Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure both for Fibernet and for our Clients.
Install configure test and maintain operating systems application software and system management tools Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks identify possible solutions and work with developers to implement those fixes Maintain security backup and redundancy strategies Provide escalated support from coworkers Document and maintain wiki articles for each customers environment Mentor System Administrators in the team Excellent written and verbal communication skills a basic writing sample may be requested as part of the interview process Ability to manage multiple system infrastructure in a given day Ability to work independently as well as work well in a team Linux andor Windows server experience Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a closely related field or equivalent experience preferred years of system administration experience.
Direct DBA experience is beneficial Working knowledge of virtualization VMWare or equivalent Strong knowledge of systems and networking software hardware and networking protocols Experience with scripting and automation tools Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing IT infrastructure best practices including expert knowledge of security storage data protection and disaster recovery protocols ImportantPer our security certifications all prospective hires are subject to a credit and background check.
