2 Part-time 20 hours ago Full Job Description Position Announcement The Assistant Technical Director assists the Production Technical Director in the overall operation and project management including; drafting construction drawings, budgeting, construction and painting of scenic elements, and properties management.
This position assists in coordinating all aspects of scenic load in and rigging/overhead preparations with other departments:
lighting, sound, projection, etc, for maximum efficiency and safety.
This position assists with oversight for safety standards.
The Assistant Technical Director will attend required rehearsals, tech/dress rehearsals, production meetings, and performances as appropriate.
Summary of Responsibilities Produces technical and construction drawings Provides cost estimates for materials and labor for the execution of scenic design and support for theatre, dance, music, and art departments Directs the purchasing of scenic materials Assists in mentoring staff and students in the production of technical and construction drawings Produces a calendar for builds, load-ins and strikes of all performance events.
Assists in the load-in, maintenance and operation of scenic elements and theatrical equipment to support theatre, dance, music and other events; may assist guest artists in technical matters Assists in supervising scenic carpentry, welding, rigging, safe use of all power tools Assists in regular inspections and maintenance for performance venues Monitors the condition of theatrical equipment including rigging; arranges for repair and replacement Works within budgetary constraints Provide training and safety procedures for the scene shop and performance spaces Attends design and production meetings supporting theatre, dance, art, and music Attends technical rehearsals Advises on calendaring events to provide adequate load-in supporting performances and events Keeps up to date with scenic construction practices, organizational methods, and improvements in technical production Minimum Qualifications Extensive (2 -4 years) supervisory experience in theater operations, including theater equipment setup, theatrical equipment operation and maintenance.

Advanced working knowledge of drafting conventions for theatre.
Knowledge of current theatrical construction techniques and rigging.
Knowledge of structural analysis and design.
Knowledge of mechanical design and automation.
Knowledge of set and prop design and construction techniques.
Working knowledge of office software, including Microsoft Office; familiarity Knowledge of common industry-specific software such as CAD programs, experience reading ground plans, light plots and other theatrical specifications.
Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Advanced skills with regard to construction and theatre technology.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain positive under occasional stressful conditions.
Proven skill to successfully manage interpersonal working relationships.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
