Summary of Duties
UVU PREP is a free summer program to help 12-15 year-old students excel in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM ) subjects. The program provides hands-on learning experiences, challenging homework assignments, career awareness speakers, and weekly field trips. This position performs the classroom management duties of as a teaching assistant for the UVU PREP class instructor including: ensures the safety and appropriate behavior of program students ages 12-15; assists instructors and program students; tutors program students in the subjects of Science, Technology, and Math one-on-one or group settings; and grades homework, special assignments, quizzes and tests; maintains student records.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus two years education at an accredited institution in a major or discipline related to the Summary of Duties or an associate s degree in a discipline related to the Summary of Duties is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Cumulative college GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Preferred majors: Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Education, Computer Science or other related majors.
B or higher in university level Algebra, or higher math course.
Knowledge
Fluent in STEM education trends and issues of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics subjects as determined by the department.
Skills
Skills in leading classroom management and discussions/activities.
Skills in effective verbal and written communication.
Abilities
Ability to lead classroom discussions/activities.
Ability to Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of student records.
Ability to assess student work.
Ability to manage and keep control of student groups.
Ability to supervise students ages 12-15.
Working Conditions
Schedule
Must be available to work from May 30, 2017 through July 21, 2017 (except July 3-7, 2017)
Must be available to work from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, Friday as needed.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
